On this website you can get information about government proposals and decisions on Auckland's governance. This is the 'public policy' side of the work being done towards a new local government structure for Auckland.

You can also find out information about the Auckland Transition Agency (ATA). The ATA is responsible for the 'technical' side of the reorganisation of Auckland, taking action that will make the decisions of parliament work in practice. Its goal is to amalgamate the present eight local authorities of Auckland into one structure, which will be the new Auckland Council, by November 2010.The information about ATA can be found by clicking the tab at the top of the page, or by going directly to www.ata.govt.nz
